Goodman Creek and South Willamette Trails

Gigantic trees and a hidden waterfall are only part of what the Goodman Creek and South Willamette Trails have to offer.  But these Eugene-area trails aren’t for everyone. The trails have significant elevation changes and some blind corners, and they’re popular with mountain bike riders.  It’s best to ride here on a weekday when visitation is light.

The Trailhead

Both trails begin at the Hardesty Trailhead, located on Hwy. 58 about 20 miles south of the I-5/Hwy. 58 intersection.  The trailhead has dedicated parking for 3-4 horse trailers.

The Riding

The Goodman Creek Trail is an out-and-back route that will take you beneath fabulous old-growth trees to a small, hidden waterfall and on to the Lower Eagles Rest Trailhead.

Goodman Creek and South Willamette Trails

The South Willamette Trail runs through several creek drainages on the lower flank of Hardesty Mountain.  Like the Goodman Creek Trail, it showcases magnificent old-growth Douglas-firs, as well as big-leaf maples, vine maples, alders, and cedars.

If you live in the Eugene area and can ride on a weekday, give these trails a try.  You’ll be glad you did!
